Running Forward

Running in a Heat Wave

on June 20, 2012

I’ve come to the conclusion that New York’s weather is just as unpredictable as Atlanta’s. The past few weeks have hovered around the seventies, but today the temperature shot up into the nineties. My office is pretty chilly, so walking home in the warm air felt wonderful. I had to stop by a frozen yogurt place on the way home from work (I love intern chores), then made a quick detour into Trader Joe’s for some veggies. Once I finally got home I quickly changed into my running clothes and went for a peaceful 3 miles. The humid air felt a bit like an oven, but I still felt pretty strong. A nice run was just what I needed. Dinner ended up being consumed at 9 pm, but that’s ok. Living in New York requires you to stretch out your days as much as possible. There’s just too much to do and so little time to do it in.

Last night I was lucky enough to go to the Yankees vs. Braves game with my cousin and his friend, Greg. The weather was perfect and the Braves did pretty well! Peter and I talked most of the time, but I also got to see the Welborns again. It’s funny, I think I’ve seen them more in the past couple of days than in the past few months in Georgia. Here are a few pics:

I’m still completely in love with this city. It constantly amazes me that I get more homesick in Athens, Ga than in New York.
